With the COVID-19 pandemic still in full swing, sunflower fields provide a great outdoor experience while still keeping social distancing and abiding by the CDC guidelines. With their sunny yellow petals and tall statue, sunflower fields also provide a great spot for an impromptu summer photoshoot!

Luckily, there is an abundance of sunflower fields in every state where you can simply enjoy the warm weather, pick your own summer flowers, and soak up the sun! See which sunflower field is a must-see destination in your state! Alabama The Sunflower Field in Autaugaville is one of Alabama’s happiest places. Filled with over 40 acres of six-foot-tall sunflowers, this breathtaking location is the perfect summer day adventure! Sunflowers are sold for $1 each or $10 for a souvenir bucket that holds about 14 stems. Alaska If you’re itching to get out of the house when the weather starts getting warmer, Georgeson Botanical Garden in Fairbanks is a great way to spend the day! “Such a great place to spend an entire afternoon exploring,” one Google reviewer says. “There are flower gardens, a ginormous maze, a children’s garden, a cute little pond, and tons of other things to explore. Definitely a must-do!”

Arizona Get lost daydreaming in seas of sunflowers at Apple Annie’s Produce and Pumpkin Patch in Wilcox! You can usually pick your own summer blooms at $1 per stem or $5 for six stems. Then, you can take them home and arrange them in beautiful bouquets! Arkansas When it’s sunny and hot outside, apple cider and pumpkins may be the furthest thing from your mind. However, you can still have some good old-fashioned fun at Peebles Farm even in the hotter months! Located in Augusta, you can see the famous sunflower field that was named one of the “most beautiful sunflower fields in the south” by Southern Living. General admission is $8 and you can even take the family on a horse-drawn carriage ride through the fields for an additional $3. CaliforniaFamily owned and operated since 1926, this sunflower field is located about 45 minutes outside of San Francisco, in the Half Moon Bay area. Even though they started out growing artichokes, beans, and broccoli, Andreotti Family Farms is known for their sunflowers– they’re known to grow over 7 feet tall! Florida Located in Masaryktown, a visit to Harvestmoon Farm is a must if you’re looking to get the family out and about! However, the farm is only taking reservations so make sure to plan your trip ahead of time. There is even a plethora of food and drink options in case the kiddos (or you) need a little something to munch on. Georgia Planted each May, the sunflowers seem to go on forever at Anderson Sunflower Farm. Nestled right outside Atlanta, the cost to get into this farm is just a $20 parking fee. They’ll even provide sanitized shears for you so you can cut your own beautiful sunflower bouquet!

At Waimanalo Country Farms on Oahu, you’ll be able to take in the magical sight of sunflower fields with the majestic Ko’olau Mountains and Waimanalo Bay as a backdrop. There is also delicious lemonade and food for sale. Idaho Stretching over 20 acres of land, Wild Adventure in Idaho Falls offers 9 different sunflower types for your viewing pleasure! General admission for adults and for kids 12 and older is $11 with season family passes available. Illinois In Minooka, you can find sunflowers blooming at Heap’s Farm usually in late August through early September. You and your family will be able to frolic through 5 acres of sunflowers, cut your own flowers, and enjoy other barn activities! General admission starts at $12. Indiana The fun doesn’t stop at Johnson’s Farm Produce! After you’re done exploring through their top-notch sunflower fields, you can partake in other farm activities like train rides, pedal cars, and a pipe swing. Pets are not allowed on the property and the farm hours are from 10 am — 6 pm. IowaEven though the 2020 season was cut short by a windstorm, the Sunflower Experience at Pheasant Run Farm is planning to come back in 2021! Located in Van Horne, this field is a must-see destination for both Iowans and tourists alike. Many people say it’s a special place for rest and rejuvenation. KansasNestled in Lawrence, Grinter’s Sunflower Farm offers free admission for families to come and take photos. If you want the sunniest flowery backdrop, peak times for this field are in late August through early September. While you can’t visit this farm any time you want, you can visit during one of their many events to the public such as Sunfest which happens around July. Admission to this Nicholasville must-see summer festival is $10 per person but children under 3 are free!LouisianaEven though the famous Sunflower Trail Festival was canceled in 2020, the Gilliam event is planning a comeback in 2021!
